Cavs shine in 2019 BTC All-Star Game victory
Seniors Mike Crown (DE), Dylan O’Neill (FS) and Christian Skinner (OL) represented South Carroll in the Baltimore Touchdown Club’s 24th Annual Senior All-Star Football Classic on Dec. 14th at River Hill HS in Columbia.
The South Carroll players were invited by the BTC to represent the North team as it faces off against the South team. Over 85 high schools were represented and the games featured more than 200 student-athletes.
Additionally, this year’s North team was head coached by South Carroll’s HC Mike Kraus. Cavalier assistant coaches Barnard, Callahan, Crumley, Gavin, & Rusbosin also joined coaches from Gilman, The John Carroll School, Dulaney and Archbishop Curley rounding out the North team staff.
The first half was a defensive battle of field position, with the North Team’s defensive unit limiting the South’s offense to only a few 3-and-out possessions. On offense, the North team moved the ball inside the red zone a few times but ended the half with only 3pts to show for it.
In the second half, the North team again marched down the field behind a strong rushing attack, and this time punched it into the end zone, with The John Carroll School’s Austin Brinkman keeping the ball on a short 6yd scramble around the left edge.
The defense finished off the game harassing the South team’s offense into repeated 3rd-and-long situations before finally securing the ball one last time allowing the North to go to the victory formation and end the game on top, 10-0.
